Amanda Oon is a journalist, author and presenter. She was born in Tokyo and grew up across Europe, Asia and Australia.
Growing up as a diaspora kid fuelled her interest in different cultures and her passion for storytelling. Through her writing, podcasting and presenting, the main theme is exploring the connections between East and West.
In 2019, Amanda moved (back) to the Lion City with her husband. Living in Southeast Asia opened the door to a whole new wealth of stories, cultures and experiences. Being back in the country of her mother’s childhood and just next door to her father’s native Malaysia has also given her the opportunity to retrace and reconnect with her family heritage.
Amanda’s first book, ‘Finding Home,’ a memoir about outsiders, diaspora identity and retracing family roots will be published in February 2025. She is also the creator and host of the ‘ConversAsians’ podcast, exploring culture, travel, and different facets of the Asian diaspora identity.
